Create the 1st Edition of Your Own Newspaper Writing Alongside 10 Year Old Dylan
This course covers the why and how of publishing a print newspaper as an elementary-aged child. This unique course is taught peer-to-peer in an active approach with Dylan walking you through each step of the process. There are multiple stopping points in each module so that you are working on your newspaper alongside Dylan.
At the end of the 10 classes, you will have the first edition of your newspaper completed with the tools necessary to continue publishing additional editions.
Not only does Dylan bring his expertise and charm, but the course is overseen by both of his parents who have taught in middle and high schools, homeschool their children and work for a college textbook publisher.
This course can serve as your child's English/Language Arts credit or can be supplementary. The newspapers produced will be perfect for portfolios and can count as a journalism credit.

Your Instructor
Dylan McDonough is an intelligent, creative, 10 year old who started his own print newspaper, The Bugle Blast, when he was 8 years old in the 3rd grade. His monthly newspaper covered what he was learning in school as well as life and field trip experiences. It included various types of newspaper articles. The second year of writing and publishing the newspaper also included an online version at www.TheBugleBlast.com. Dylan also enjoys creating other forms of writing such as comics, fictional stories and screenplays. His first screenplay, Humpty Dumpty: The Mystery was performed in May 2019 by the Koinonia Kids Dramatic Storytelling Class. Dylan also enjoys other creative outlets such as cartooning, piano and drum playing, and seeking adventures in the great outdoors with friends.
